Minus The Tiger

We regret to let you all know that after more than a year of touring, playing, (re)creating and having tons of fun, Arthur Adam has decided to stop his guitar playing with Minus The Tiger. For the very legitimate reason that he wants to put his energy in his own music (be sure to check out his new album 'Pulse'). What can we say but thank you Arthur for your help to get to what MTT is today. We will miss your fine fine guitar playing and singing and of course your delightful spirit in our midst. 
Our next show at EKKO as support for Aestrid SOS we'll be playing with Marty (COPPERSKY). We'll be on the look out for a permanent guitarist and will keep you posted.

On thursday 27th of September Hollands Best New Videos will be presented at NFF (Dutch Film Festival) by musicplatform 3voor12. Afzien editor Stephan van Peursem and head editor Willem van Zeeland will show their favorite Dutch music videos and explain why they selected these videos.
Minus The Tiger's video Hunted was showed as very last video, being a new style of documentairy/music video.

We are really sorry but we have to let our fans in ROTTERDAM down this weekend by telling you our show has been CANCELLED in Roodkapje. Kim Jansen will perform instead of MTT and will play a great set for sure. New MTT date for Roodkapje coming up soon.

Naming the band after your dead cat, recruiting band members amongst your family, working on a ‘sound’ for ages, add rehearsals restricted to Sundays only to the mix and you have a recipe for disaster. Rock ‘n roll ain’t no Hollywood movie darn it! But before you label Minus The Tiger as possible successors to the likes of the dreaded Kelly Family, please take note: although Minus The Tiger may excel at art of bright ‘n shiny family values, the melancholic, moody atmospheric songs sure aren’t aiming for the soundtrack of the next Kathrine Heigl flick. MTT is rather a reflection on the passage of time. Or a longing. For more. But also for stillness.

MTT is, first and foremost, Anne Broekman, voice and songwriter of the band. During the endless Sunday morning pajama sessions she and her husband, Maarten Besseling - known for his In A Cabin With project - found a new sound for the songs she has been performing solo on her acoustic guitar. The resulting DIY sound fabricated in holy matrimony is layered, hot, sounds international and at times ethereal. Finding itself somewhere between The Knife and TV On The Radio, Lykke Li and Kate Bush. With the addition of Jesse Broekman (Anne’s sibling), Arthur Adam and Jos Terlingen, MTT makes for a tantalizing live performance. A sound both carefree and melancholic that seduces to dance.

The band has acquired a prestigious publishing deal in Canada, has signed with the record company V2 Records Benelux, has been selected for Canadian Music Fest 2012 in Toronto and is adding more and more live shows to their resume. Their debut album will be released in the Benelux on the 9th of april. Along with other Dutch musicians/bands, MTT was invited by the Groninger Museum to create and produce a song for a painting.
